The Demarest Cooperative Nursery School was established in 1965. We are housed in the educational wing of the United Methodist Church, located at 109 Hardenburgh Ave. in Demarest, N.J. Our curriculum is nonsectarian; no religious instruction is given. However, we do celebrate various holiday traditions.
We always encourage our parents to get as involved as possible in our school community. There are a number of events and fundraisers each year in which you can volunteer and work to truly give you the opportunity to participate in your child’s first school experience. These events are a way for you to meet other families in our school and make lifelong friends.
Co-oping: All families at the Co-op will have the opportunity to co-op in their child’s classroom if that is
something they would like to do. This is not mandatory for any parent, but it does give you the opportunity to be a part of your child’s day once in a while if you so choose. To Co-op, you must be fingerprinted and CARI checked (child abuse screening). We also encourage our parents, who may have any special talents or celebrate a special holiday, to share those talents/traditions with our children.
Our parents are our greatest resources!
*Every child benefits from our fundraisers in the form of enrichment programs, special guests, field trips, and specialty equipment. All funds raised go directly to the children of the co-op!
Our Staff
We are fortunate to have wonderful and talented teachers who are extremely enthusiastic, and very dedicated. All our staff members are highly trained; holding college degrees in various areas such as early childhood, elementary education, music, and psychology.
